My main collection is divided in three different sections each of which takes my theme one step further. My objective for this collection was to create a series of garments that would be comfortable as well as trendy. I started looking at traditional wear from different cultures for inspiration and settled down on the idea of the robe as a starting shape to then build off of. I chose to work in Jersey because to me that is the most comfortable fabric. I also thought it was interesting how changing the fabric of these traditional-like garments opened the doors to a larger audience for them.
The first part consists of a series of garments made using a very ethnic colour pallet combined with a hint of bright pink. This first part allowed me to get familiarized with my topic. It is a very literal translation of what I was trying to accomplish, which is why the following two parts where crucial in order to show a progress in trail of thought.
